The show

An hour of flamenco, five minutes from the Cathedral

Seville is where flamenco was born, and there is no shortage of places claiming to prove it. This one is in the middle of the old town, runs every day, and puts singers, guitarists and dancers of the current generation on stage for an hour.

Who performs

Singers, guitarists and dancers working now, rather than a fixed cast: the line-up changes, and the show is built to show the range of the art rather than one person’s speciality.

An hour, in the centre

The length is deliberate. Flamenco at full intensity is not a three-hour proposition, and an hour of it in the middle of the old town fits into an evening that has other plans in it.

Tickets with something added

Beyond the standard seat there are premium options: one with drinks, one with drinks and Iberian tapas. There is also a seat that comes with meeting the artists afterwards. The calendar lists what is available on your date.

Seeing flamenco in Seville

Practical questions about the art, useful background before you travel.

From this part of Andalusia, certainly: the triangle of Seville, Jerez and Cádiz, and within Seville the quarter of Triana. It took its current shape in the 19th century in exactly these streets.

A room with a small stage where flamenco is performed close up. The word comes from the wooden boards the dancer works on, which are an instrument as much as a floor.

The compás, the rhythm the whole thing is built on, which the clapping keeps rather than decorates. Once you hear it, the rest of the show organises itself around it.

It is enough to know whether you want another. People who like the first one tend to go back the same week, which is why the city can support as many venues as it does.
