The park

A theme park about the discovery of America, with a water park attached

Isla Mágica sits on the Isla de la Cartuja, on the site of the 1992 world exposition, and it is themed around the century when Seville was the port through which everything from the Americas passed. Six themed areas, rides, shows, and a water park that opens onto a real sand beach.

The six areas

Each one a stage of the Age of Discovery, from the port of Seville itself to the Amazon and the Caribbean, with rides, shows, restaurants and games arranged inside them. The theming is better than it needs to be.

The rides

From the roller coasters that everyone photographs to the gentler things for small children, with shows through the day and plenty of shade to sit in between them.

And Agua Mágica

The water park next door, included in the same ticket: slides, a wave pool and a sand beach, which is the closest thing Seville has to a coast. In July and August it is the reason to buy the ticket.

Isla Magica and the Cartuja

Practical questions about the park and where it is, useful background before you travel.

A loop of land in the river that held the 1992 world exposition. Half of it is now a technology park, half is what was left of the Expo, and the theme park occupies a good part of that.

By bus, by bike along the river, or by taxi in about ten minutes. It is close, but it is on the other side of the water and not a walk in August.

Yes, and there are reduced rates from four years old with infants free. There are gentle rides and shaded areas as well as the big coasters.

The monastery where Columbus was buried for a while before his remains began their travels, now a contemporary art centre, and the Pabellón de la Navegación on the riverbank.
